Research Project on Resilient CPS “Cyber-Physical Systems“

Project director: Prof. Ahmed Lakhssassi

Cybersecurity and hardware research project:

Cybersecurity and hardware: Securing hardware in the presence of malicious attacks and hardware hacking

The security of computer systems connected to hardware is at the heart of the concerns of anyone who uses hardware to control an operational system, process, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), IoT, etc. and this to control or secure order data. Developing new on-board systems design practices with safety in mind as is the case for the safe operation of UAVs as objects as well as for the communication and functionality of the global network are key issues for future of IoT. The objective of the project is the development of a technology for securing hardware in the presence of attacks by fault and hardware hacking to break embedded security, with hardware attacks.

Testing and prototyping activities: Using LabVIEW, students will have the task of analyzing the chain of a control system based on an FPGA board NI myRIO-1900 with Raspberry Pi 4 8GB EXTREME Kit microcontrollers. In particular, they will have to evaluate the chain of control for the design and insertion of a security layer at the hardware level. An approach for the insertion of a control anomaly detection module according to the driven load to assess the risks of cyberattack and block them at the level of the last layer of the control system.
