Dr Marie-Ève Clément runs the Centre de Recherche sur la Violence faite aux Enfants (CRVE), formerly the Canada Research Chair in Violence Against Children which she was the holder from 2010 to 2021. The CRVE aims to better understand the trajectories and dynamics of victimization of children, their consequences on their development (epidemiology axis) as well as the effectiveness of the intervention programs and services implemented to help them, including the community social pediatrics centres, Triple P, Alliance and Grandir Ensemble (evaluation axis). She holds a master's degree in psychoeducation as well as a doctorate in community psychology. Her research interests focus on the assessment of prevention and intervention programs, as well as on the epidemiology of violence towards children. She is also interested with parental cognitions and with the intergenerational transmission of physical and psychological abuse towards children. She managed jointly four provincial studies on domestic violence towards children in 1999, 2004, 2012 and 2018 with the Institut de la statistique du Québec, as well as the investigation on the polyvictimization of young children in Québec in 2010. She also worked closely with the Partnership Chair for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment to assess the implementation and effectiveness of an Evidence-Based Program (Triple P) in Québec. She is interested in social representations of violence against children in connection with the support and reporting practices of professionals working with families. Finally, she is a co-researcher in charge of the LaREM (Laboratory for Research in Epidemiology of Maltraitance).
